Workshop on Investor State Dispute Settlement: “Improving ISDS mechanism in SEE economies"

The Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) is organizing a Workshop on Investor State Dispute Settlement (ISDS): “Improving ISDS mechanism in SEE economies", on 2 November 2017 in Vienna, Austria as a next step in the implementation of the investment reform agenda within the Western Balkan region. 

The main outcome of this capacity building workshop is to exchange experiences about the measures and instruments for minimizing the negative effects of Investor State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) for both investors and respective economies. 

The meeting will hear about the reform options in improving dispute settlements mechanism, benefits and options for securing early settlements, presentation of Dispute Resolution and Negotiation Centre, key challenges facing South East Europe (SEE) economies in ISDS and practical approaches to dispute prevention and investor retention.

Representatives from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), World Bank (WB), Energy Community Secretariat (ECS), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and lawyers are expected to take part at the workshop and share their views on this issue.
