RCC Secretary General meets EU High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy

During a visit to Sarajevo today, the EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, Javier Solana, met with the RCC Secretary General, Hido Biscevic, to reiterate EU support to RCC activities.

High Representative Solana highlighted the importance of RCC work at this moment in time, when the region of South East Europe needs to take decisive steps in democratic reforms and towards European integration.

Secretary General Biscevic informed the EU High Representative of the first year of RCC operation, the constant support received by the EU, and the active cooperation established with the governments of the RCC members from South East Europe. He stressed the RCC engagement in promoting the spirit of cooperation and mutual respect, as well as in facilitating development projects in the region.

The two officials also discussed the upcoming RCC Annual Meeting in Chisinau, Moldova, on 4 June, which is to be held back-to-back with the Summit of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), and the December conference to be organized with the incomimg Swedish EU Presidency, focusing on regional development projects.
