Following the letter of Mr Johanes Hahn, Commissioner for Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy & Enlargement Negotiations of the European Commission, Mr George Soros, Founder and Chairmen of Open Society Foundations and Mr Goran Svilanovic, Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council on May 03, 2016 by which governments participating in the Roma Integration 2020 were invited to participate at the project launch event in Brussels and to nominate National Roma Contact Points, the Minister of Social Welfare and Youth of Albania, Mr Olta Xhacka, on May 03, 2017 nominated the National Roma Contact Point. Mrs Mertia Xhafaj, General Director of Social Policies at the Ministry of Social Welfare and Youth of Albania is the newly appointed National Roma Contact Point. Mrs Xhafaj has established record in working on Roma issues. Within the Roma Integration 2020 project Mrs Xhafaj will represent Albania in the project Task Force. She will participate at the project activities and collaborate closely with the Regional Cooperation Council’s Roma Integration 2020 Action Team in achieving the objectives of the project.
