High Level Regional Conference - Reinforcing Commitments towards Small Arms and Light Weapons Control in South East Europe

The high level regional conference “Reinforcing Commitments towards Small Arms and Light Weapons Control in South East Europe” will be held on 1 February 2018 in Podgorica, Montenegro. The conference is organized by The South Eastern and Eastern Europe Clearinghouse for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SEESAC) under the auspices of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC).

The Conference will gather the Deputy Ministers of Interior and Foreign Affairs of South East Europe (SEE), to provide a platform for the SEE authorities to present the challenges posed by small arms and light weapons (SALW) in the region, review the progress made and take stock of the remaining challenges. The objective of this meeting will be for the authorities in SEE to formally reinvigorate the commitment as part of the overall process of EU integration, to combat illicit trafficking and proliferation of SALW and their ammunition, being major contributors to organized crime and violent extremism.
