Regional workshop on media coverage of terrorism and violent extremism related topics for journalists from the Western Balkans

The Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) is organising a Regional Workshop on media coverage of violent extremism-related topics for journalists from the Western Balkans, to be held in Budva, on 25 October 2018.

The aim of the workshop is to discuss the role of the media in the fight against terrorism, the phenomena of social media and online radicalization as well as the role of journalists in a broad institutional response to these challenges. Journalists will be presented with the main regional challenges related to Prevention/Countering Violent extremism  (P/CVE) and get an overview of the existing institutional frameworks in P/CVE area and the whole society approach with special emphasis on referral mechanisms that include other societal stakeholders.

The Workshop is a part of  the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF) Programme: Integrative Internal Security Governance (IISG)/ The Western Balkan Counter-Terrorism initiative (WBCTi), supported through Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) II 2016, covering Regional Action on P/CVE in the Western Balkans, in which the Regional Cooperation Council is participating as one of implementing partners.
