Regional Conference ‘Implementing Energy Policies at Local Level’, Skopje, The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia

29 October 2012

The aim of the meeting is to discuss possibilities, strategies and policies for strengthening local authorities' capacities in energy project management and fund raising. The event will contribute to bringing relevant EU acquis in the energy domain closer to local communities in the Western Balkans enabling them to understand better EU energy policy and the acquis, particularly in the areas of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources, as well as to strengthen knowledge, experience exchange and networking. The latter is of a particular importance since successful energy projects require building networks, consortia and partnerships with the civil and private sector and exchange of experience at various levels – local, national and regional.

The conference will bring together representatives of local authorities from the Western Balkans, EU representatives, experts as well as private sector representatives, civil society organizations, financial institutions and relevant international organizations.

The event is being co-organized by the European Commission, within the Local Administration Facility (LAF) program, the Regional Cooperation Council Secretariat and Analytica.
