5th EU meeting of the network of National Points of Reference on Scientific Information (NPR) back to back with Workshop on Smart Specialisation Strategies in the Western Balkans

Western Balkan economies contact points for Open Science have been invited, together with the EU member states, to present the latest developments and activities in the field of Open Science at the 5th annual EU meeting of the network of National Points of Reference on Scientific Information (NPR), taking place on 5 December 2017 in Brussels, Belgium.
Back to back with the EU member states’ meeting, the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) is organizing a Workshop on Smart Specialization in Research and Development (R&D) and Industrial Working Group Meeting. Participants from the Ministries responsible for R&D and innovation will meet with the representatives from the respective ministries of economy to discuss development of Smart Specialization Strategies in Western Balkans Six (WB6) in cooperation with European Commission’s (EC) Directorate-General for Joint Research Centre (DG JRC), DG for Research & Development (DG R&D) and DG for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR), to address the actions on smart specialisation outlined in the Multi-Annual Plan (MAP) on Regional Economic Area.
Participants are to share their views on the following topics: The Cost of (Not) Having a Smart Specialisation Strategy in the EU; Developing a Smart Specialisation Strategy in the context of the Western Balkans; Innovation and R&D in the business sector of the Western Balkans; Specificities of Developing a Smart Specialisation Strategy in the context of the Western Balkans and Support to the development of smart specialisation strategies in the Western Balkans, that is to be presented by DG JRC and DG NEAR.
