Launching event for The RCC Security Balkan Barometer Public Opinion Survey 2021: “SecuriMeter- Perceptions of security threats in WB”
The Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) is to present its 1st special edition of the Security Public Opinion Survey (#SecuriMeter) 2021: “Attitudes towards security: Perceptions of security and threats in Western Balkans” – in hybrid mode, on 24 May 2021.
The launch will be organized by the RCC in cooperation with partners IISG, SEESAC, MAARI, DPPI, and will envisages the presentation of key findings of the public opinion survey followed by a panel discussion: “Radicalisation and Terrorism in the virtual sphere – how to boost resilience among young people”
The 2021 Special edition of the Security Balkan Barometer Public Opinion Survey represents the next chapter in the steady evolution of the region’s foremost survey of public opinion.
The event will serve to launch the first-ever regional Security Public Opinion Survey and its findings to the general public.
The main aim of the event is to provide a platform for discussion on the topics covered with the report and to attempt to elaborate on the state of play of the rapidly changing regional security landscape.
In particular, this event will provide an opportunity to discuss attitudes towards current security challenges and trends in the Western Balkans economies, both at the regional and individual level, helping inform the work of policymakers and other interested regional stakeholders, with the purpose of better understanding and improving overall regional security.
The research included six chapters:
A. General security perception
B. Perceptions of the fight against terrorism, organised crime, and border security
- Fight against terrorism
- Organised crime
- Border security
C. Perceptions of the use, ownership, and community safety-related to firearms
D. Perceptions of illegal immigrations, asylum-seeking and the humanitarian dimension of migratory movements
E. Perceptions of disaster prevention and disaster preparedness
F. Hybrid threats and disinformation as a new security challenge
