The French Presidency of the Council of the European Union, together with the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) and with the support of SEESAC, organizes the Conference & Experts workshop on the implementation of the Western Balkans SALW Control Roadmap „Stronger together: How EU Member State’s expertise can further help Western Balkan partners achieve key aspects of the SALW Control Roadmap goals in 2024“, which will take place on 7-8th April 2022, at Hotel Holiday, Zmaja od Bosne 4, 71000 SARAJEVO, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Objectives of the Conference and Experts workshop: The French EU Council Presidency, together with the EU and Germany, and all other stakeholders of the Western Balkans SALW Control Roadmap 2024, would like to invite for a 3-days Conference & Experts Workshop in order to facilitate focused exchanges on the Roadmap’s implementation challenges in a few areas where EU Member States expertise could help Western Balkans SALW Control experts to implement the Roadmap goals in practical terms and meet the needs (harmonization of legislation on SALW, ammunition, and explosives with the EU law; support to investigations and penal chain; expertise in detection, deactivation, K9 and deactivation capabilities).

Interested EU Members States representatives & experts will be invited to exchange on each of these topics divided into three sessions with Western Balkans national SALW Commission’s representatives & experts, together with EU (EEAS, EC, DG NEAR, and DG HOME), with updates and the support of UNDP SEESAC, UNODC, OSCE.
