Guidelines for Roma Responsive Budgeting

The Western Balkans’ six economies, participating in the Roma Responsive Budgeting Initiative led by the Roma Integration project, have been working progressively on piloting the Guidelines for Roma Responsive Budgeting developed in 2018 within the inter-governmental working group that included the National Roma Contact Points and the Ministries of Finance from the region.

During 2019 the RCC Roma integration monitored budget implementation as well as budget preparation for the year 2020. The project worked with representatives of the governments of the region, relevant lines ministries, as well as representatives from the local level. Civil servants were trained to perform Roma responsive budgeting of policies and action plans, based on existing evidence of Roma needs and policies’ successes.

All work to date has resulted in the Policy Briefs on Roma Responsive Budgeting for each of the economies (see below). These briefs present a detailed analysis of the state of affairs and recommendations for further implementation of Roma Responsive Budgeting.
