RCC Secretary General for European Western Balkans
18 July 2025 | INTERVIEW
In the interview published by European Western Balkans, Amer Kapetanovic, Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council, reflects on the EU‑backed Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, describing it as injecting fresh energy into the Western Balkans’ EU path. Kapetanovic emphasizes that beyond the €6 billion in grants and concessional loans, the Plan delivers tangible benefits such as free movement of goods and services, SEPA payments, region‑wide roaming, and green trade lanes - even before full membership. Kapetanović stresses that these benefits come with clear conditions: economies must commit to deep reforms in governance, rule of law, and public administration, and fully implement the Common Regional Market. The Plan has already stimulated deeper regional integration, spurred businesses to expand, and encouraged governments to deliver their Reform Agendas.
