RCC Secretary General for Monitor
02 November 2026 | INTERVIEW
In an exclusive article for Albania’s Monitor magazine, titled “Competing in Europe, Connecting Next Door”, Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) Secretary General Amer Kapetanović highlights the importance of strengthening regional economic integration to boost the competitiveness of businesses across the Western Balkans Six. He discusses how the Common Regional Market can help remove trade barriers, facilitate investment, connect businesses and develop regional value chains, enabling companies to compete more effectively in European and global markets. Drawing on examples such as the WB6-EU Industrial Parks Partnership, he emphasises the need to move beyond participation in European supply chains towards higher-value production, innovation and stronger regional business networks. Kapetanović also underlines that deeper regional integration and the EU Growth Plan are complementary pathways towards economic convergence with the European Union, calling for faster implementation of reforms and tangible results for businesses and citizens.
