Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) in cooperation with the Berlin Center for Integrative Mediation (CSSP) are to organize regional conference “Mediation in the Context of EU-Accession” in Skopje on 11-12 December.

The conference will bring together representatives from the Ministries of Justice, Chambers of Mediation and Judicial Councils of the South East Europe (SEE) aiming to exchange experiences related to the existing challenges in SEE, such as lack of trust and information on mediation, low level of referral to courts and restricted resources, among others. 

The Conference will consist of two parts:  working sessions on specific topics focusing on situation analyses, measures already taken and envisaged solutions, followed by presentations in the plenary and an exchange among all representatives of all economies. Sharing the manifold experience of the attendees the conference aims at contributing to the quest of effective and sustainable solutions.

Intended objectives and outcomes: 
•    Deepened professional exchange on how to improve the respective mediation systems and the relevant legislative framework; 
•    Contributions to the regional discussion on strengthening the role of mediation and encouraging the active role of courts and Ministries of Justices; 
•    Discussing the relevance of mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolutions (ADR) in the context of EU accession and SEE 2030;
•    Increased linkages and networking among relevant regional actors.
