Sofia, 5 May 2026 – The Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), together with the Sofia South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) Chairmanship-in-Office, convened the 7th meeting of the SEE2030 Strategy Monitoring Committee in Sofia, bringing together National Coordinators and delegations from across South East Europe.
“The mid-term update of the SEE2030 Strategy will help SEECP participants focus more strongly on strengthening resilience and promoting inclusive growth through regional cooperation in South East Europe, with competitiveness and the expanded involvement of the private sector as important cross-cutting areas. The update will also pave the way for deeper interaction between RCC and SEECP structures through shared priorities. In a time of multiple challenges facing the region, the future of South East Europe must be more resilient and more inclusive,” said RCC Deputy Secretary General Arslan Umut Ergezer.
Alongside RCC Deputy Secretary General Ergezer, the meeting was opened with remarks by Ivaylo Iordanov, Head of the Regional Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The discussion that followed the welcome remarks reaffirmed the region’s shared commitment to implementing the SEE2030 Strategy, with a strong focus on translating regional cooperation into concrete and investment-ready results. The talks centred on the role of public-private partnerships as a catalyst for advancing the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in strengthening resilience and fostering inclusive growth across the region.
A key milestone of the meeting was the endorsement of three core regional deliverables managed, coordinated and facilitated by the RCC: the SEE2030 Mid-Term Update, the South East Europe Inclusive Growth Index Report, and the SEE2030 Mid-Term Implementation Report 2021–2025. Together, these documents provide a stocktake of progress achieved so far, evidence-based insight into inclusive growth trends, and strategic guidance for the next phase of SEE2030 implementation.
The Monitoring Committee once again confirmed its role as the primary governance platform of the SEE2030 Strategy, gathering SEECP participants around a common regional agenda and reinforcing the RCC’s role in supporting sustainable development, regional coordination and implementation of the 2030 Agenda in South East Europe.
Following the endorsement of the key deliverables, the focus of the work now shifts to translating the commitments into tangible results through stronger partnerships, targeted investments and sustained regional cooperation.
