Athens – The Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), Amer Kapetanovic, is in Athens today, as part of his political consultations tour across South East Europe, where he met with Konstantinos Tassoulas, President of Greece, and Giorgos Gerapetritis, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece.

The meetings focused on advancing regional cooperation in South East Europe (SEE), supporting the region’s European path, and enhancing practical cooperation through initiatives such as the Common Regional Market, the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans, and implementation of the SEE 2030 Strategy for sustainable development.

Greek officials reaffirmed Greece’s strong support for the RCC’s work and its role as an inclusive platform for fostering regional dialogue, connectivity, and tangible results for the citizens of South East Europe. They underlined the importance of continuing efforts to deepen cooperation in key areas such as energy transition, digital transformation, climate resilience, and sustainable development, as well as strengthening the European perspective of the Western Balkans.

“Regional cooperation remains our strongest tool for building trust, delivering results for our citizens, and advancing our shared European future. I thank our Greek partners for their continued and valuable support to the RCC’s work. Together, through the Common Regional Market, the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans, and SEE 2030 Strategy, we are making our region more connected, more sustainable, and more resilient,” said Amer Kapetanović, RCC Secretary General.

The visit to Athens is part of the RCC Secretary General’s political consultations tour across South East Europe, which includes meetings with heads of state, government representatives, and key partners across the region.

Beginning next week, the RCC will host its Annual Meeting in Tirana, which will precede the Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) and the SEECP Summit of Heads of State and Government.

At these upcoming meetings, the RCC Annual Report and the new RCC Strategy and Work Programme 2026-2028 – focused on deepening regional cooperation and delivering on the region’s green, digital, and sustainable development goals – are expected to be adopted and endorsed.
