Dubrovnik – RCC Secretary General Amer Kapetanović met with NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmila Šekerinska on the margins of the Dubrovnik Forum today, reaffirming the RCC’s mission to promote European and Euro-Atlantic integration as the path to peace, security, and prosperity in South East Europe.
The meeting underscored the importance of a strong regional cooperation in ensuring the long-term resilience, stability, and safety of the Western Balkans. Discussions focused on strengthening regional cooperation to tackle shared security challenges, from hybrid threats to crisis preparedness and institutional resilience.
The RCC Secretary General Kapetanović emphasised that "For the RCC, the security and stability of our region are prerequisites for progress. We'll continue working with all our participants, including NATO, to support reforms, build trust, and ensure the Western Balkans remains anchored in its European and Euro-Atlantic future."
In their discussion, Kapetanović shared insights from the RCC’s SecuriMeter, a regional survey capturing public perceptions of security challenges. These insights highlight citizens’ views that the EU and NATO continue to be among the most trusted organisations in the region.
Deputy Secretary General Šekerinska expressed NATO’s appreciation for the RCC’s work emphasising that the RCC is key to building regional stability and fostering closer ties in South East Europe and with Euro-Atlantic institutions. She reiterated that NATO remains committed to supporting these efforts and advancing a shared goal of a secure and resilient Western Balkans.
Looking ahead, Kapetanović announced that the RCC will host the largest regional security gathering this November, informally known as the ‘Jumbo Security’, bringing together decision-makers, security experts, and partners to advance cooperation and resilience at a critical time for South East Europe.
