Heart of Sarajevo for the Best Student Film goes to Adem Tutić

Sarajevo – The closing night of the he concluded with its traditional awards ceremony, including the RCC-sponsored Heart of Sarajevo for Best Student Film awarded to Adem Tutić, for the movie “Tarik”. The award highlights not only the success of rising filmmakers from South East Europe but also the ongoing commitment to nurturing new talents in our region which RCC gladly supports.

We extend our warmest congratulations to Adem. Celebrating the success of young filmmakers from our region at the largest film festival in South East Europe is both inspiring and rewarding. We look forward to following your future achievements, certain that many more awards await.

The RCC has long recognised the power of art and culture to bring people together, build regional cooperation, create shared experiences, and spark opportunities that reach far beyond the screen. By supporting creativity and cultural exchange, we help strengthen ties while also contributing to the social and economic growth of the region.

During the Sarajevo Film Festival, the RCC had the opportunity to present a short video on the Common Regional Market (CRM), further highlighting and promoting the regional agenda to the festival audience.

Since its inception in 2017, the RCC has proudly sponsored the Heart of Sarajevo for Best Student Film. Previous winners of this award include Nadja Petrovic for “The Smell of Fresh Paint” (2024); Anna Gyimesi for "Falling" (2023); Klara Sovagovic and Josip Lukic for "It's Not Cold for Mosquitoes" (2022); Alexandru Mironescu for "Summer Planning" (2021); Zeynep Dilan Süren for "The Great Istanbul Depression" (2020); Nikola Stojanovic for "Sherbet" (2019); Hajni Kis for "Last Call" (2018); and Neven Samardzic for "Clean" (2017).

Supporting young filmmakers is just one of our ongoing efforts to empower youth in the region. The RCC-coordinated Western Balkans Youth Lab Project promotes and facilitates dialogue between youth and policymakers, strengthening their role in decision-making. Additionally, RCC supports innovation and entrepreneurship through the Balkathon competition, fostering creation of digital solutions, and the Butterfly Innovation Award, which celebrates youth-led projects. These targeted actions, alongside RCC’s efforts to include youth in its regional activities, aim to create better socio-economic opportunities, reduce brain drain, and build a more inclusive society across the region.

RCC support of Sarajevo Film Festival has been financed by the Federal Republic of Germany.
