Washington, DC - Continuing his visit to the United States of America, Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) Secretary General, Amer Kapetanović, addressed a roundtable on regional cooperation in South East Europe organised by the Atlantic Council in Washington DC.

Kapetanović underlined the importance of deepening transatlantic cooperation in support of South East Europe’s stability and security, while highlighting that faster convergence can be the key to strengthening resilience across the region. He underlined the RCC’s role as a regionally-owned platform in advancing initiatives such as the Common Regional Market, the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans, and the SEE2030 Strategy. In his discussions with ambassadors present at the event, the RCC Secretary General pointed to the concrete results of the Common Regional Market - from abolished roaming charges to mutual recognition of professional qualifications, stressing that visible results are key to keeping public momentum for integration on track.

“Our region is not on the periphery of Europe, it is integral to its stability and prosperity. By working together, both regionally and with our partners, we can turn vision into everyday benefits for citizens and businesses,” said Kapetanovic.

RCC Secretary General Kapetanović also met with Ambassador of the European Union to the United States, Jovita Neliupšienė.

The Washington visit build upon meetings held earlier this week in New York on the margins of this year's UN General Assembly, including the latest annual SEECP Foreign Ministers’ meeting, and signing of the Letter of Intent with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
