WB6 CLIMATE ADAPTATION ROADMAP

WB6 CLIMATE ADAPTATION ROADMAP

14 October 2025 | REPORT

The WB6 Climate Adaptation Roadmap provides scientific, policy, and practical guidance for strengthening resilience to climate change impacts across the Western Balkans. It aligns the region’s efforts with the EU Adaptation Strategy and the European Climate Law, identifying vulnerabilities, priority sectors, and necessary measures to address increasing climate risks such as droughts, floods, wildfires, and heatwaves.

Its purpose is to ensure a coordinated, science-based, and systematic approach to adaptation planning across all sectors - from agriculture and infrastructure to health and biodiversity. The Roadmap recommends integrating adaptation into domestic policies, promoting nature-based solutions, improving data collection and early-warning systems, and mobilising finance for resilience. Ultimately, it aims to guide the WB6 toward a climate-adapted, sustainable, and secure future by 2050, while ensuring coherence with EU climate objectives and supporting the region’s socio-economic stability.
