The Working Group on Open Science (WGOS) aims to promote the adoption of Open Science policies and associated measures in the Western Balkans.
Representatives of the Open Science Working Group are two designated representatives by their governments which work on these issues either from the Ministries’ in charge of science or Universities or both.
The emphasis of its activities is on supporting the region to develop and coordinate Open Science policies on access to and preservation of scientific information in line with the EU Communication and Recommendation to Member States on this topic, through:
- Defining clear policies for the dissemination of and open access to scientific publications resulting from publicly funded research [EC recommendation No. 1];
- Defining clear policies for the dissemination of and open access to research data resulting from publicly funded research [EC recommendation No. 3];
- Ensuring synergies among national e-infrastructures at European and global level [EC recommendation No. 6];
- Designating a National Point of Reference for Open Access [EC recommendation No. 8].
