1st Meeting of the Lead Negotiators on Mutual Recognition of Professional Qualifications

The Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) convenes the 1st Meeting of Lead Negotiators on Mutual Recognition Agreement of Professional Qualifications in Western Balkans to be held in Brussels on 8 October 2018.

The purpose of the negotiations is to conclude Mutual Recognition Agreement, which will establish common rules for recognition of professional qualifications for the applicants holding a professional qualification obtained in one of the Western Balkans economies enabling them access to and the pursuit of their profession in another economy. In the light of the EU accession processes and aspirations of all economies, the Draft Agreement on Mutual Recognition of Professional Qualifications of Doctors of Medicine, Dentists, Architects, and Civil Engineers is based on the EU Directive 2005/36/EC on Recognition of Professional Qualifications.

At the 1st meeting, the Lead Negotiators should discuss the rules of procedures for the negotiations and the dynamics of the negotiations with a view of concluding the negotiations ahead of the next Prime Ministers Summit in 2019 in Poland.

To facilitate the internal governmental procedures the RCC has provided the draft legal text of the Mutual Recognition Agreement of Professional Qualifications for Doctors of Medicine, Dentists, Architects, and Civil Engineers.
