Workshop on Investor State Dispute Settlement (ISDS), organised by the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), will be delivered in a form of practical guidance on a topic of Defending the State in ISDS cases.

After development and endorsement of the Regional Investment Reform Agenda (RIRA), followed by development of individual-economy Investment Policy Reform Action Plans (IRAPs), the region entered the implementation phase, undertaking concrete activities, as defined within the IRAPS. These concrete actions envisage investment protection and are related to upgrading established investor grievance mechanisms, where the Western Balkans economies will be able to learn about all necessary steps in the process of defending the State in ISDS cases, from a notice of dispute to registration; constitution of the tribunal to the first procedural meeting; written proceedings; hearing and post-hearing phase to the award.

The Workshop, gathering also State Attorneys and investment officers in charge of ISDS from the region, will be held in Brussels, back-to-back with the meeting of Joint Working Group on Investments.
