High-Level Parliamentary Meeting: Strengthening Parliamentary Cooperation in the EU Accession Process – The Role of COSAP as a Driver of Regional Exchange

The Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), in cooperation with the European Parliament and Stabilisation and Association Process in South-East Europe (COSAP) under the Chairmanship of the Assembly of North Macedonia is to co-organise a High-Level Parliamentary Meeting on “Strengthening Parliamentary Cooperation in the EU Accession Process: The Role of COSAP as a Driver of Regional Exchange” on 6 May 2026 at the European Parliament in Brussels. The meeting is also supported by the “Regional Cooperation for EU-Integration (RCEI)” project implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
 
The meeting will gather Members of the European Parliament, representatives of COSAP parliaments, and officials from the European Commission, European External Action Service and the Council of the European Union to discuss the role of parliamentary cooperation in advancing the EU accession process, including the EU’s internal readiness and candidates’ preparedness, strengthening inter-parliamentary dialogue, and sharing models and best practices of regional cooperation, with the aim of reinforcing COSAP’s role as a driver of regional exchange. The meeting is to reaffirm a shared commitment to fostering closer ties between the Western Balkans and EU institutions, while reinforcing the role of parliamentary diplomacy in advancing the EU integration agenda.
