Podgorica - Representatives of the Integrative Internal Security Governance (IISG) met with Montenegro’s State Secretary at the Ministry of Interior, Novica Obradovic, as part of thematic consultations with Western Balkans Six partners.

Agron Sojati, Head of IISG, and Eros Andoni, IISG Subject Matter Expert, presented ongoing work on needs mapping, response mapping and the IISG Database, including plans to introduce a cybersecurity component reflecting priorities identified by the European Union (EU).

As part of the visit, IISG also met with Tanja Perkovic, Montenegro’s representative for the Pillar 2 Western Balkan Countering Serious Crime initiative (WBCSCi); Vojislav Dragovic, representative for the Pillar 3, Western Balkan Border Security initiative (WBBSi); and Dusan Velimirovic from the Ministry of Interior.

The discussions highlighted Montenegro’s important role in IISG and other regional security cooperation platforms, as well as the importance of clearly communicating institutional needs and responses to support donor coordination and inform the European Commission.

Obradovic reaffirmed Montenegro’s commitment to EU integration, alignment with EU standards and active participation in IISG processes. Participants also stressed that shared challenges, including terrorism and organised crime, require sustained regional cooperation and coordinated action across the Western Balkans Six.
