Tirana – The 19th meeting of the Regional Network of National Counter-Terrorism and Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism Coordinators (RNNC) was held on 22–23 April 2026 in Tirana, bringing together representatives of the Western Balkans Six, European Union (EU) institutions and international organisations.
Discussions focused on implementation of the Joint Action Plan (JAP), developments related to the EU Counter-Terrorism Agenda 2026 and progress in preparing the Western Balkans Six partners’ implementation roadmaps.
Agron Sojati, Head of the Integrative Internal Security Governance (IISG), presented IISG’s approach to supporting future monitoring of the roadmaps. He emphasised the importance of aligning proposed measures with the JAP and defining clear baselines, indicators, targets, verification mechanisms, implementation timelines and responsible institutions.
On the second day, the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund (GCERF), Hedayah and the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC)/IISG jointly organised a Community of Practice workshop on intersectoral and interinstitutional cooperation in preventing violent extremism and supporting the rehabilitation and reintegration of children and mothers repatriated from conflict zones.
The meeting reaffirmed the importance of regional cooperation, coordinated reporting and stronger institutional collaboration in addressing counter-terrorism and preventing and countering violent extremism (CT-P/CVE) priorities across the Western Balkans Six.
