RCC presents the platform tracking digitalisation in the Western Balkans
Following the three editions of the Western Balkans Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI) report, the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) has launched the Western Balkans DESI Dashboard, the first interactive online platform that tracks the region’s progress in digital transformation.

Based on the EU’s DESI, the Dashboard provides insight into key indicators such as digital skills, digital infrastructure, digitalisation of business, and digitalisation of public services.
The data powering the platform comes from official statistical offices, regulatory authorities, and relevant ministries in the Western Balkans, complemented by research where official data was not available. This enables benchmarking with EU data, helping to identify both regional strengths and areas requiring policy attention. The Dashboard also offers a valuable perspective on how digital development supports broader regional initiatives, including the Common Regional Market. For example, in 2023, 43% of internet users in the Western Balkans interacted with public authorities online, illustrating both the growing demand for e-government services and the opportunities to further expand their reach.
This new tool is part of RCC’s broader efforts to foster digital integration across the Western Balkans and ensure the region keeps pace with the European Union.
This initiative is part of the Common Regional Market implementation and is funded by the European Union.
