Lecture on disaster management and risk reduction within the “Days of BHAAAS in Bosnia and Herzegovina”

Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) is to co-organize and co-moderate special session on disaster management and risk reduction within the 14th “Days of BHAAAS in Bosnia and Herzegovina” on 2 June 2023 in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The objective of the session is to discuss and present applicable methods in estimating multi-dimensional damage of disasters and policy instruments for enhancing capacity to improve the detection and risk reduction of natural disasters in South East Europe and it will tackle the following topics:

• Identifying the impact of disasters on the quality of life 
• Available methodologies in calculating the ex-post cost of disaster 
• Principles of humanitarian aid implementation and its constraints in natural disaster struct regions 
• The current state of play in the implementation of the Sendai Framework and SDGs in relation to disaster management and risk reduction 
• Regional cooperation between civil protection agencies in South East Europe 
• Regional financial risk sharing in South East Europe 
• Available methodologies in calculating the vulnerability assessment of existing structures and preparing the economies for a potential disaster
