Workshop for South East European countries on countering the financing of terrorism, Belgrade, Serbia

29 June 2011-30 June 2011

The event is jointly organized by the Counter-Terrorism Executive Directorate (CTED), the Southeast European Cooperative Initiative Centre on combating trans-border crime (SECI Center) and the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), in cooperation with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and will be hosted by the Government of Serbia.

The workshop will focus on terrorism financing in South East Europe (SEE), and in particular, on the links between terrorism financing and organised crime. It will bring together representatives of law enforcement agencies and financial intelligence units from SEE, as well as representatives of international, regional and sub-regional organizations.

The participants will discuss regional typologies and trends for the financing of terrorism, including observed links between terrorist and criminal organizations, and tools to detect, disrupt and investigate terrorism financing. The aim is to enhance interagency cooperation at domestic and regional level.

The meeting is a follow-up event to the workshop held last October in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
