The workshop will focus on the recently adopted EU Renewable Energy Directive that includes provisions for cooperation mechanisms and joint projects with implications for Energy Community Contracting Parties (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo) and Observers (Moldova, Ukraine, Turkey and Georgia). The workshop will also present the findings of the USAID/Hellenic Aid Regional Assessment of Renewable Energy, including the status within each country of various policy mechanisms for promoting renewable energy; donor activities; and discussion of the key barriers in each country that should be addressed by future donor efforts to stimulate additional renewable energy project investments.
