Sustainable Growth Workshop, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina
19 February 2013-20 February 2013
The two-days workshop will be dedicated to raising awareness on the South East Europe 2020 (SEE 2020) strategy, prioritizing action, and agreeing on the process and governance structures within the Sustainable Growth pillar of the strategy. The meeting intends to identify the pillar structure, along with a detailed roadmap outlining main stakeholders, with a description of their roles, responsibilities and timelines within the development process of the SEE 202.
Regional partners in the workshop will include Energy Community Secretariat, South East Europe Change Net (SEECN), South East Europe Transport Observatory (SEETO), Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group in SEE (SWG), Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für International Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). They will tackle the issues of economic, environmental and resource sustainability in a coherent and holistic way, while putting the focus on the need to strengthen the industrial base.
The SEE 2020 strategy, currently being developed under the auspices of the RCC Secretariat, puts competitiveness and resource sustainability among the priority efforts dealing with growth.
Following the adoption of the South East Europe 2020 vision and the adoption of high-level regional headline targets for growth by the SEE region Ministers of Economy at a meeting in Tirana in November 2012, the Regional Cooperation Council and its partners have engaged in the development of the SEE 2020 strategy, as the main regional framework for growth. The Strategy is based on five pillars: (i) integrated, (ii) smart, (iii) sustainable and (iv) inclusive growth, underpinned by (v) good governance.
