Sarajevo – The Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) Board convened today in Sarajevo for its 58th meeting, bringing together representatives of RCC participants and partners to review progress of regional agendas and discuss priorities for the upcoming period.

Opening the meeting, RCC Secretary General Amer Kapetanović briefed participants on key developments in regional cooperation since the previous Board meeting in November 2025, highlighting continued engagement with regional governments, EU institutions and international partners, as well as progress in advancing the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans, South East Europe (SEE) 2030 Strategy, Common Regional Market agenda, and broader regional cooperation efforts.

“Regional cooperation in South East Europe has matured significantly over the years. Today, our responsibility is not only to keep dialogue alive, but to translate political commitment into tangible results that citizens and businesses can feel in their everyday lives. By working together and aligning our priorities, we can ensure that regional cooperation continues to strengthen resilience, connectivity and economic opportunity across South East Europe,” said Kapetanović.

During the meeting, the RCC Board approved the Regular Report of the Secretary General covering the period from November 2025 to February 2026, outlining progress in implementing regional initiatives across areas including competitiveness, innovation, green transition, human capital development and security cooperation.

The Board also adopted two Memoranda of Understandings between the RCC and the GiZ, and between the RCC and the European Training Foundation, as well as the Decision approving the Project Synopsis on disaster financial risk sharing in South East Europe, which, as part of the SEE2030 Strategy, will support the work of the Regional Network on Disaster Risk Insurance and Risk Sharing and contribute to strengthening resilience to natural disasters across the region.

In addition, the Board reviewed progress in advancing regional activities within the framework of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), and preparations for upcoming ministerial meetings and regional processes during 2026.

The Board meeting was preceded by a meeting of the SEECP Troika and the European Commission with the RCC, as well as a briefing on the implementation of the Common Regional Market Action Plan. The discussions provided an opportunity for participants to align views on key regional priorities and upcoming deliverables.

Following the Board meeting, RCC Secretary General Amer Kapetanovic and Petra Burcher, Head of Western Balkan and Türkiye Unit at Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), signed an Agreement reaffirming the continuation of support of RCC’s Board Participant Sweden to the organisation and regional cooperation agendas.

The RCC Board meets regularly to guide the work of the RCC Secretariat and review the implementation of regional cooperation priorities across South East Europe.
