Bar – The Integrative Internal Security Governance (IISG) organised the Regional Pillar Support Group Meeting under the Western Balkan Border Security initiative (WBBSi) on 22–23 July 2025 in Bar.

The meeting brought together representatives of the Western Balkans Six, relevant institutions and international partners to review the latest response and needs mapping, ongoing projects and future priorities under the IISG Border Security Pillar.

Participants examined the Annual Response Mapping Report for 2020–2023 and the second Needs Mapping Report for 2024–2026. Western Balkans Six partners reviewed and confirmed their contributions, supporting the finalisation of both reports ahead of their submission to the IISG Board.

Discussions also covered updates to the IISG Database and regional and international projects supporting border security cooperation. Participants highlighted the importance of timely information exchange, coordinated planning and aligning assistance with identified regional priorities and needs.

The meeting reaffirmed the importance of IISG as a platform for coordination, analysis and strategic planning, as well as the shared commitment to strengthening regional cooperation and collective responses to evolving security challenges across the Western Balkans Six.
