Western Balkans Digital Summit taking place on 1-2 October in Skopje

Skopje – The Western Balkans Digital Summit (WBDS) 2025 will take place on 1–2 October 2025 at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Skopje, co-organised by the Ministry for Digital Transformation of North Macedonia and the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), bringing together governments from the region, the business community, academia, and international partners to accelerate the region’s digital transformation.

Organised on two stages – Main and Technology – WBDS 2025 will focus on three priority areas:

• Digital wallet: secure, user-friendly access to public and private services

• Interoperability: connecting systems and registries to enable regional e-services

• Cybersecurity: protecting personal data and critical infrastructure

The Technology Stage will feature sessions on artificial intelligence, 5G and optical infrastructure, digital skills, and access for regional companies to the EU’s single digital market.

More than 800 participants and speakers are expected, including senior representatives of Western Balkan economies, European Commission, RCC, International Telecommunication Union (ITU), as well as the leaders from the private sector.

The Summit will also highlight joint stakeholder efforts, supported by RCC, in exploring the next steps towards reducing roaming costs between the Western Balkans and the EU, working towards a pathway to roam like at home.

The Western Balkans Digital Summit is the region’s flagship platform for digital cooperation, launched in April 2018. The inaugural Summit was held in Skopje on 18–19 April 2018, and WBDS has since rotated annually across Western Balkan capitals, gathering governments, business, academia, and international partners to share knowledge and accelerate digital transformation, from the Western Balkans roaming-free breakthrough to advances in interoperability, digital skills, and e-services. WBDS is an initiative that is part of the Digital Agenda within the Common Regional Market (CRM) Action Plan and is co-funded by the European Union.
