Meeting of RCC Board, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

The regular quarterly meeting of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) Board will hear a report by RCC Secretary General Hido Biscevic on the activities of the organization’s Secretariat since May 2011 and the information on the work planned for the next three months.

The RCC Board meets quarterly and is chaired by the RCC Secretary General. The Board provides the RCC with operational guidance and supervision. It consists of those RCC members contributing to the budget of the RCC Secretariat as well as the European Union.

Signing of Protocol on Regional Cooperation in Education and Training among members of European Association of Public Service Media in South East Europe, Sarajevo, BiH

The aim of this event, co-organized by the European Association of Public Service Media in South East Europe, Radio-Television of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) Secretariat, is to continue and deepen regional cooperation in education and training among public service media in South East Europe (SEE).

It will gather director generals of SEE public broadcasters, members of the Association, as well as representatives of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the RCC Secretariat and the European Commission. The meeting participants are expected to sign a protocol on regional cooperation in education and training among members of the Association.

The third Meeting of the Education Committee of the European Association of Public Service Media in South East Europe will be held in advance of the Protocol signing, on 29 September 2011.

Regional Training of Education Inspectors, Danilovgrad, Montenegro

The main goal of this event is to provide insight to different modules determining role, status, competencies, and activities of education inspectors in South East Europe. Participants will also elaborate possibilities for better involvement of education inspection bodies in promoting the idea of more equitable schools, based on the principles of education for democratic citizenship and human rights education. The event will offer an opportunity for professional development and training at the regional level provided by experienced experts from the EU and the region.

The training is being co-organised by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the Regional Cooperation Council Secretariat, in partnership with the Regional School for Public Administration, the European Training Foundation and the Council of Europe. It will gather representatives of ministries of education, education inspectorates and other institutions responsible for education inspection from South East Europe, as well as representatives of relevant international organisations and other stakeholders.

Fifth South East European conference on Trade Facilitation, the Single Window and Data Harmonization, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

The main objective of the conference is better understanding of a Single Window concept that enables international/cross-border traders to submit regulatory documents at a single location and/or single entity.

The event is being organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the Government of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with the UNDP office in Sarajevo and the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) Secretariat, which is hosting the conference. 

The Conference will promote the use of international standards and codes in international trade, Single Window and paperless trade projects.

It will bring together relevant government and institution representatives from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, UNMIK/Kosovo, as well as representatives of UNECE, UNCTAD, RCC and European Commission.

Third South East Europe Health Ministers’ Forum, Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina

The main purpose of the Forum is to introduce the values, priority areas and actions of the new European policy for health, Health 2020, and the Health in All Policies approach, with the objective of achieving better health, equity and accountability in South East Europe. The Forum will also mark a decade of concerted action by the South-Eastern Europe Health Network (SEEHN) in developing regional cooperation in important technical areas of public health.

The event dubbed, Health in All Policies in south-eastern Europe: A Shared Goal and Responsibility, is being organized by the SEE Health Network Presidency, Executive Committee and the Secretariat, jointly performed by WHO Regional Office for Europe and the Council of Europe in the framework of the Reginald Cooperation Council and in collaboration with Bosnia and Herzegovina, represented by the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Ministry of Health of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of Republika Srpska.

It will gather representatives of the Ministries of Health of SEEHN member states and partner organizations including the CEB, the CoE, the European Union, the EuroHealthNet, the International Organization for Migration, the Northern Dimension Partnership in Public Health and Social Well-being, the RCC and the WHO/Europe.

‘Energy. Development. Democracy./Shaping a New Energy Future for South-East Europe’, Regional Conference, Belgrade, Serbia

The conference is being organized by regional political schools lead by the Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence within the Serbian SEECP C-i-O and under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Serbia. The Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) Secretariat is providing substantial support in the organization and realization of the conference that will bring together representatives of parliaments, governments, European Parliament, energy industry and business, academia, international organizations, international financial institutions, NGOs, task forces and initiatives, as well as bilateral and multilateral donors.

The Conference will contribute to strengthening the public dialogue on the sustainable use of energy in the region of South East Europe and provide participants with an opportunity to demonstrate the relevance of their activities for reaching the EU 20-20-20 goals, becoming more and more relevant for the South East European region taking into account its European prospects. The regional conference fits to RCC’s priority to encourage and promote sustainable energy development in the region.

The organizer of the conference is the Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence with its partners from the initiative “Public Dialogue for the Sustainable Use of Enegy in the South East Europe“: the Academy for Political Development and the Society for Sustainable Development Design (DOOR) from Croatia, and the School of Democratic Leadership from Montenegro. The initiative is supported by the International Visegrad Fund, and the Open Regional Fund for South East Europe - Energy Efficiency (ORF-EE), implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
